Make a donation to help Kayleen Galvin today! Kayleen Galvin, born on December 30, 1960, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer that had spread to her surrounding major abdominal organs earlier in 2006. She went through 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy followed by an extremely invasive surgery to remove the remainders of the tumors. Her doctor said he thought they had removed most, if not all of the cancer. Kayleen has no health insurance and has not been able to schedule a follow-up appointment with her oncologist. She has visited the health department here, but they were reluctant to send her to an oncologist without her being able to pay. Kayleen is special to the Charlotte Roller Girls because she is the 46 year old mother of one of our skaters, Andrea Warren. When Andrea's mom was fighting her cancer she had lost her home, all of her belongings and most recently, in mid December, her husband (Andrea's stepfather) to cancer. Thanks to Kayleen's doctors, church, family and friends she was able to get back on her feet and moved in with Andrea, her husband and 3 children. |
