Charlotte Edged out by Jacksonville 90-73

cltrg_allstars_logo-150For the first time in league history, the Charlotte Roller Girls visited the Sunshine State. On Saturday, Charlotte’s All-Stars took on the Jacksonville Roller Girls in a physical bout that went down to the wire. But in the end, it was Jacksonville edging out Charlotte to take the 90-73 victory.

Rosemary Gardner a.k.a. Rosie Cheeks grabbed lead jammer and two points in the first jam to give Charlotte the early lead. Pam Brown a.k.a. Pamela Ander-Slam extended that lead a few jams later. Jacksonville responded and pulled ahead midway through the first period.

Charlotte Roller Girls Head to Jacksonville

cltrg_allstars_logo-150For the second consecutive week, the Charlotte Roller Girls take to the road. On Saturday, its All-Stars team heads to Jacksonville, FL to face the Jacksonville Roller Girls. It marks the first time the two teams have met in competition.

The All-Stars last competed in May at home when it defeated the Columbia Quad Squad. The team currently has a 3-1 record.

Saturday’s bout is being held at the Jacksonville Ice and Sportsplex located at 3605 Philips Highway in Jacksonville. It’a double header event with the first bout starting at 6:00 p.m. Charlotte takes to the track in the second bout scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $12.

B Dazzlers Defeated by Greenville 165-76

cltrg_bdazzlers_logo-150Despite strong efforts by new skaters Audrey Ewing a.k.a. Sin Plicity and Leslie Brandon a.k.a. Les Whip-It, the Charlotte Roller Girls secondary team, the B Dazzlers, were defeated by the Greenville Derby Dames. The final score of Saturday’s bout was 165-76.

CLTRGDebyDames101009The Charlotte Roller Girls return to the track on Saturday, October 10 when its secondary team, the B Dazzlers, travel to Greenville, South Carolina to take on the Greenville Derby Dames. The B Dazzlers, looking for its first win of the 2009 season, last competed in May.

“We’ve steadily improved since our first bout in February,” said team captain Megan Giacobbe a.k.a. Scarlett A. Sassin. “More time to practice together and fresh talent in our league means we’re heading to Greenville well prepared and ready to bring home our first win.”
