CLTRG vs. Classic City
The Charlotte Roller Girls held their first home bout of the 2009 season last night, taking on the Classic City Rollergirls of Athens, Georgia in front of a sold out crowd at its new venue, the Grady Cole Center. Despite a strong surge by Classic City in the second half, Charlotte held on for a decisive 110-64 victory.
“This was a great way to start our home season,” said Charlotte’s team captain Pollyannarchy. “We’ve been waiting nearly two years for this rematch. Our team was fully prepared and the final results showed it.”
The two teams last met in 2007 with Classic City taking the victory.
Charlotte dominated the first half and held its opponent scoreless for the first six minutes. By halftime, Charlotte pulled out to a 48-32 lead.

It was announced today that Pabst Blue Ribbon will return as the Official Beer of the Charlotte Roller Girls, the Queen City’s newest sports property. The partnership, which began last year, runs through the 2009 season.
