CLTRG Fraid Knots DebutTo kick off its intra-league season, the Charlotte Roller Girls will host the Intra-league Rollout Bash on July 10. This free public event begins at 9:00 p.m. and will be held at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, located at 911 E. Morehead Street.

This event marks the official start of Charlotte’s 2009 intra-league season. The season runs from July to September and consists of three qualifying bouts followed by a championship round, the final home bout of the year. The intra-league championship is a serious competition which allows fans the opportunity to see all 40 of Charlotte’s players compete at its home venue the Grady Cole Center.

july4Come see the Charlotte Rollers Girls in a exhibition bout at the Red White & Blue Funfest on July 4 at The Blake Hotel in uptown Charlotte. This free event, which takes place on the top level of the parking deck, includes the Queen City Car Wars & Bike Show, live music and Kids Zone. After the festivities, fans are invited to watch Charlotte’s official fireworks show, Red White & Boom.

The event kicks off at 3:00 p.m. with the Charlotte Roller Girls exhibition starting at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin after dark at 9:30 p.m.

The Blake Hotel, located at 555 South McDowell Street, is Charlotte’s premiere business district hotel. It features modern leather and wood furnishings, Belgian linens, down duvets, flat-screen TVs and wireless internet access. Visit www.theblakehotel.net for more information.

The Charlotte Roller Girls next home bout is on July 19 at the Grady Cole Center. Tickets are on sale here for $10 or in person at The Common Market. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $14.

Charlotte Roller GirlsThroughout the 2009 season, followers of the Charlotte Roller Girls have come in droves to witness Emmylou Harass, Court’her Pound’her, Drew FearMEmore and the rest destroy their competition. Wouldn’t it be exciting to see Charlotte’s skaters compete head-to-head? Starting on July 19, fans will have that chance.

The Charlotte Roller Girls will kick off its 2009 intra-league season with three qualifying bouts before closing out its home season with the championship bout in September. The intra-league championship is a serious competition which allows all of Charlotte’s active skaters to bout at its home venue the Grady Cole Center.

“All of us look forward to our intra-league season,” said Charlotte Roller Girls president Lucy Kwipment (Cress Barnes). “Every skater gets the chance to strut her stuff in front of the home crowd. The fans love it too because they are guaranteed to see their favorite skater at least twice throughout the championship. We take these bouts very seriously so fans should expect nothing but the finest roller derby action.”

CLTRG Cornhole EventThe Charlotte Roller Girls would like to thank everyone who helped make our Inaugural Cornhole & Beer Games Tournament such a huge success. Many of our fans won fabulous prizes and we raised enough funds to cover a month’s worth of practice space fees. Special thanks to our partners Harley-Davidson of Charlotte, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Mac’s Speed Shop.

In the coming days, we will be making a special announcement concerning our upcoming intra-league championship and our new intra-league team. Be afraid!
