In front of a sold out crowd at the Grady Cole Center, the Charlotte Roller Girls All-Stars defeated the Carolina Bootleggers by a score of 108-46 in the first home bout of the 2010 season.
Charlotte’s next home bout, a rare double header, is on Saturday, April 10 at the Grady Cole Center, located at 310 N. Kings Drive. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 here, or in person at Sleepy Poet Antique Mall and The Common Market. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $14. Box office and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Charlotte, N.C. (February 25, 2010) – On March 6, the Duke-Carolina rivalry, one of the most intense in all of sport, will carry on in Durham while a new one, the Charlotte-Carolina rivalry, will begin in the Queen City. For the first time in roller derby history, the Charlotte Roller Girls will take on the Raleigh-based Carolina Rollergirls in a bout that is sure to thrill any sports fan. This season opener is the first of seven home bouts on the 2010 Charlotte Roller Girls schedule.
Battling for Charlotte will be its All-Stars team while Carolina will send its Bootleggers squad. Led by captains Haley ‘Amy Fister’ Blaska and Rosemary ‘Rosie Cheeks’ Gardner, Charlotte has been looking forward to the day these two leagues would bout for a long time.
“This is my fourth season with Charlotte and we’ve been talking about bouting Carolina since I joined,” said Blaska. “At first, we needed some time to establish ourselves and then scheduling issues kept it from happening. We are glad it worked out for 2010.”
For the second consecutive year, the B Dazzlers will launch the Charlotte Roller Girls season when they travel to Augusta, GA on Sunday to take on the Soul City Sirens. This marks the first time these two teams have faced off.
The bout dubbed Mardi Gras Massacre will take place at Redwing Rollerway located at 3065 Washington Road in Augusta. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and can be purchased here.
The next Charlotte Roller Girls bout will be held on March 6 when its All-Stars battle the Carolina Bootleggers in the league’s home opener. Tickets for the all North Carolina match up are on sale now for $10 here or in person at The Common Market or Sleepy Poet Antique Mall. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $14. The Grady Cole Center is located at 310 N. Kings Drive.
Season ticket packages are now available for the 2010 Charlotte Roller Girls home season. Fans can purchases tickets to all seven home bouts at the Grady Cole Center for $55.
